WHITE & CASE

Comment: This highly recommended practice in insurance has a focus on advice to companies, but also frequently receives instructions from insurers, esp. in D&O claims. Thanks to the cooperation with the strong insolvency practice, the insurance lawyers are a step ahead of most competitors, esp. in liability disputes in connection with company bankruptcies. In product development, as well, the D&O expertise has increasingly paid off; here, a team surrounding Wirth advised a pharmaceutical company, for example, on the development of an international D&O insurance concept with separate coverage for the supervisory board. Its close relationship with other legal areas in complex instructions has also become a specialty of the practice. One example of this is the development of individualized insurance-related products such as W&I policies around ongoing transactions. Esp. in large real estate deals, the corporate and insurance practices now regularly work together.
Strengths: Synergies with the litigation practice ( ?commercial litigation and liability), ?banking and regulatory as well as ?M&A.
Recommended: Christian Wirth.
Practice: Active litigation practice. Experience in fraud cases and major claims, and in insurance against credit shortfall and business interruption insurance. In addition, expert-opinion work, esp. on fundamental legal issues. Development of insurance concepts for industrial clients. Close cooperation with W&C offices in the CEE region.
