WILHELM

Comment: This highly recommended firm in insurance is clearly positioned at the side of insurance policyholders in a way that few of its competitors are. With this focus on industrial instructions, the insurance and liability boutique is at the vanguard of a trend that competitors such as White & Case and other large firms are increasingly pursuing. One client praises the team around Wilhelm for its entrepreneurial thinking: “brilliant minds who are very engaged and act strategically”. Much attention was also brought to the firm on the basis of a success before the Federal Court of Justice (Bundesgerichtshof): Wilhelm and Winkler won a precedent dispute for two clients on assignment of claims and the conditions for a claim on the part of the D&O insurer. On the other hand, the premature end of the insurance practice in the Berlin office was a bitter pill: there, only two corporate lawyers are still active after the departures of the partner Dr. Axel Thoenneßen (to his own one-man practice) and of an experienced counsel (to Eick & Partner) after only one year.
Strengths: Insurance and D&O advice to industrial clients.
Recommended: Dr. Mark Wilhelm, Lars Winkler (“competent and level-headed”, “good understanding of technically difficult issues”, competitors), Dr. Fabian Herdter.
Practice: Litigation focal points in personal, industrial, construction and property insurance. In addition, strengths in social security law and in D&O claims, as well as in product liability. Regulatory law and crisis-related advice. Integrated criminal law advice. Active for large banks, the public sector, Mittelstand companies and associations. International cooperation with diverse European law firms and US firm Clausen Miller. (3 equity partners, 1 of counsel, 6 associates)
