Both of these states are mainly rural, though there are several large towns, incl. Mainz, Koblenz and Kaiserslautern. Rheinland-Pfalz is economically overshadowed by Baden-Württemberg so law firms here tend to be smaller and less specialized. Saarland has suffered from the decline of the coal and steel industries but is bouncing back with a number of high-tech companies; many firms here have growing IT practices.
