NORTON ROSE FULBRIGHT

Comment: Respected primarily for its litigation work, this practice has steered its way back into shallow waters following a more turbulent phase the previous year with regard to staff. The litigation practice remained largely unaffected by the latest spinoff of a large team that opened an office for Dentons in Munich. The practice managed by young partner Förster has undergone a great deal of development: the lawyer was able to strengthen his ties to a major US insurer and now counts among the most visible specialists for W&I insurance with a good dozen lawsuits under his belt. The close connection between the German practice and the US offices, also strengthened by practice manager Nowak, were reflected favorably in the work for a German auto corporation in connection with a large product liability case. The firm boasts established partners for litigation instructions that also involve patent, cartel and banking law elements; collaboration between individual offices could, however, be improved.
Strengths: Strong global network.
Development potential: The merger with Chadbourne & Parke gives the firm a massively expanded presence in the US. If it acts quickly to develop the network with the US practice, the firm’s, or for the most part Nowak’s, existing close connections to the US could bear even more fruit in future.
Recommended: Jamie Nowak (“excellent connection with the judiciary, highly capable on an international level”, “strong-willed and experienced”, competitors), Dr. Sven Förster (“very smart”, competitor).
