Norton Rose Fulbright

Comment: Besides the energy, insurance and pharmaceuticals sectors, this recommended firm for M&A rounded off its sector focus with future markets like technology. The lead role in deals for Rofin Sinar (in cooperation with the New York office) and work for AnaCap in its acquisition of payment service provider Heidelpay demonstrate this successful market entry. Classic clients like BMW are now advised on M&A too. In Hamburg, NRF brought in partners Patrick Narr and Dr. Stefan Feuerriegel from White & Case; they have already advised Patrizia and ECE on various real estate deals.
Strengths: Global links, increasing sector specialization, incl. finance (e.g. ?insurance), raw materials, pharma, transport and ?energy.
Development potential: NRF broadened its sector expertise but contacts among corporates remain limited compared to similar competitors. It will be difficult for NRF to change this situation under its own steam.
Recommended: Eva-Maria Barbosa (“dealmaker and sector expert”, client), Dr. Klaus Bader.
Practice: Midsized and large transactions, esp. for strategic investors, often in close cooperation with NR offices around the world (esp. the UK, eastern Europe and Canada). In Hamburg, good contacts to the local Mittelstand. (Corporate in total: 19 partners, 8 counsel, 26 associates)
Clients: ?? Rofin-Sinar on public takeover by Coherent; BMW on M&A activities; Ralf Hinkel Holding on sale of 50 percent share in Motobix to Konica Minolta; Sandvik on sale of Mining Systems Operations; Chinese buyer consortium on acquisition of Bosch starter division.
