OSBORNE CLARKE

Comment: This recommended M&A practice saw its deal flow increase significantly. Roots in the technology sector are bearing fruit, e.g. in cross-border deals: OC advised Wirecard on several transactions, incl. entering the US market. In regulatory aspects, OC has an asset in the pronounced interface with its IT practice. Working with the media practice, the team was active for Funke concerning its investment in Media Partisans. The sector focus is also working well in the energy sector: John Laing hired OC for a range of transactions.
Strengths: Firmly established in the technology sector. Market-leading VC practice ( ?private equity and venture capital).
Development potential: Because of its good reputation in the technology sector, the IT and media practice is often seen alongside Milbank when Pro7Sat.1 assigns M&A work to firms. The M&A practice should aim to be a sought-after advisor itself, esp. for deals in its core sector.
Recommended: Rudolf Hübner, Dr. Martin Sundermann, Philip Meichssner (“trustworthy, first-rate lawyer”, “much experience”, clients), Matthias Elser (“offers economically wise solutions”, client), Nicolas Gabrysch (esp. VC), Carsten Schneider.
Practice: Focus on the ?IT, automotive and biotech sectors, often with international aspects thanks to the firm’s international connections. Pronounced VC-related work. Active India practice. (12 partners, 18 associates)
Clients: ?? Allgeier on acquisition of Ciber’s German business; FWU on acquisition of Fortuna Lebensversicherung; Indus Holding on acquisition of M+P International Mess- und Rechnertechnik; John Laing on acquisition of Horath wind farm; Klöckner on investment in Bigrep.
