Deloitte Legal

Comment: The work of this firm recommended for M&A features a high proportion of in-bound investment, driven by the huge worldwide consulting arm with a traditionally strong German-Japanese deal flow. The shift over the past few years, however, has been toward better penetration into the domestic market – and given the international network, accompanying these clients abroad has been a natural development. Previously, apart from Hanover’s relatively autonomous regional practice, M&A work has been focused on the largest office in Düsseldorf. However, the Munich and Frankfurt offices have built up a deal flow as well.
Strengths: Cross-border M&A. Excellent tax and due diligence advice via the Deloitte accounting/tax advisory branch.
Recommended: Dr. Harald Stang (“strong performance in lawyer-to-lawyer negotiations”, client), Felix Felleisen, Andreas Karpenstein, Dr. Michael von Rüden (“impressive legal footwork, always focuses on the client, outstanding negotiator”, client), Dr. Markus Schackmann, Dirk Hänisch (“preeminent expertise, exceptional service mentality, mental agility in a wide range of deals in Germany and abroad”, client), Georg Lehmann (“dedicated and highly skilled, very good analyst, keen perception, works quickly and reliably”, client).
Practice: Advice to large German Mittelstand companies and international groups active in Germany. Large tax advisory/accounting network of Deloitte. Netherlands desk in Düsseldorf. (12 equity partners, 12 salary partners, 23 associates, 3 of counsel)
Clients: ?? Toyota Boshoku on sale of European interiors division; GETEC Energie Holding on sale of GETEC head & power to EQT; Rondo Ganahl on acquisition of Walz Verpackungen; Armonea on acquisition of Deutsche Pflege und Wohnen; Hannover Finanz on takeover of Presswerk-Krefeld and Schiller Fleisch.
