Comment: A recommended M&A practice which enjoyed a steady stream of cross-border work in line with its excellent international reputation. Horbach played a central role. The German office is also consulted by leading German companies for advice on US deals. The best-known M&A partner in Germany, Dr. Lutz Zimmer, left the firm (moved to Austria), leaving a very large gap that the well-regarded Hofmeister only partially fills. Skadden will no doubt have to find a lateral if it wants to play a role in the German M&A market to match its reputation.
