ALLEN & OVERY

Comment: This firm highly recommended for restructuring landed an impressive breadth of clients from the crisis scene extending beyond the financial sector. The firm represented the workshops’ main lessor in the ATU crisis. A&O now boasts several partners with expertise in each of the various disciplines, e.g. financial restructuring and litigation, as well as corporate rescue advice to companies. A&O also anchored the most lucrative field so far, restructuring advice to banks, among various partners. Insolvency-related M&A rounds off the widened portfolio, though transaction advice is far less visible than work in major liability proceedings and legal challenges, which are keeping the insolvency scene on tenterhooks, e.g. the Brinkmann/KPMG case.
