WHITE & CASE

Comment: This highly recommended practice for equity capital markets has once again seized opportunities beyond Germany’s borders. It thus regularly works as an advisor in Switzerland, e.g. on the IPO of the mail-order pharmacy Zur Rose, and it also advised the issuer on the ultimately aborted IPO of Adienne. The firm's advice to the underwriting banks on the €13bn secondary offering of UniCredit, which was the largest secondary offering Italy had ever seen, demonstrated the importance of other European countries for W&C in realizing its potential. But W&C can also aid in classic German ECM deals, as was seen in its role in the Stabilus transactions and the bank work on the Vossloh secondary offering. A lawyer who has worked closely with the dynamic Wagner for years was named partner. At the same time, Dr. Benedikt Gillessen moved to Norton Rose.
Strengths: One of the few international equity practices in Hamburg.
Recommended: Dr. Lutz Krämer (“very good capital markets lawyer”, competitor), Gernot Wagner (“active, has strengthened the practice”, competitor).
Practice: IPOs, secondary offerings and placements. Clients include both issuers and banks. (4 partners, 7 associates)
Clients: ?? Zur Rose on IPO; banks on €13bn secondary offering of UniCredit; Adienne on IPO (aborted); GfK on voluntary public takeover bid from Acceleratio for all outstanding publicly traded Stabilus shares; Berenberg on secondary offering of Vossloh.
