P+P PÖLLATH + PARTNERS

Comment: This firm is highly recommended in corporate and boasts a remarkably broad practice. Even though the team advises major concerns only occasionally in special cases, the duo Grobecker and Nase enjoys a breadth and strong reputation that was extended this year to include public takeovers (WCM, Müller Medien). The corporate practice’s prestige is in fact so good that the firm was called on for a transaction based on its ability to advise on complex restructuring following a deal. A few years ago this would have been unthinkable. The rise in D&O liability cases is playing into the firm’s hands, as some of its partners combine stock corporation law with litigation expertise. Many outsiders were surprised that P+P was involved in advising the Piëch family members on their withdrawal from Porsche, but Bruse has maintained a long-standing relationship to the family.
Strengths: P+P has good access to owner families through strong ?company succession and ?tax practices. Also stock corporation law and public takeovers.
Recommended: Dr. Wolfgang Grobecker, Dr. Eva Nase, Dr. Matthias Bruse.
Practice: Advice to a large number of family companies; dynamic expansion of the practice to include stock corporation law, public takeovers and corporate litigation. (3 partners, 3 associates)
Clients: ?? Pi?ch family on separation of Porsche SE shares; Schoeller on new shareholder structure; WCM on acquisition of 94.9 percent stake in retail center; Deutsche Bank, Munich Re on sale of BHS Tabletop; new shareholder of Thalia Buch Group on shareholders’ association.
