Skadden Arps Slate Meagher & Flom

Comment: Until the end of 2016, this recommended practice for debt issues continued to be busy with its extensive work in connection with the restructuring of the Heta debt, which met with international attention. The already renowned and very experienced Hutter thus established a reputation that lends him a special position in the German as well as the Austrian market. But even beyond its role in the Heta complex, the practice is often called on for instructions at the interface with restructuring or with a link to the US. On the other hand, it intentionally eschews more classic program work, focusing rather on select, complex transactions, often with an equity-linked aspect.
Strengths: Equity-linked and high-yield bonds.
Recommended: Dr. Stephan Hutter (“did significant work in the Heta complex”, “great weath of experience”, competitors), Dr. Katja Kaulamo.
Practice: Strong focus on equity-linked bonds (convertibles and exchangeables), traditionally also high-yield bonds. Classic stand-alone work. Crisis-related refinancing. (2 partners, 7 associates)
Clients: ?? The Austrian state of Carinthia, Kärntner Landesholding and KAF (Kärntner Ausgleichszahlungsfonds) on restructuring of the Heta debts (€11bn); Agravis on participation certificates.
