Comment: This firm highly recommended in insolvency administration followed up major proceedings with new successes. Jaffé paid out high rates to creditors in the Petroplus insolvency, which meant 60 percent repayment even before completion, and generated almost €200m for the Narat fund creditors. €1.7bn has already been returned to the Kirch Media investors. In the long term, it could be a problem that this success for creditors, meticulously achieved with Jaffé’s own team, was based on past appointments
Strengths: Complex insolvency proceedings with an international element; litigation.
Development potential: Because, for reasons of principle, advisory work away from the separate Jaffé LLP is not an option, the firm relies on a steady flow of proceedings and a major insolvency now and then. Though this strategy is risky, the fact that Jaffé went against the trend and established two young administrators with the courts speaks to its conviction.
Recommended: Dr. Michael Jaffé.
Practice: Appointment of eight insolvency administrators/trustees esp. in Bavaria, Nordrhein-Westfalen, Hessen and Thüringen. Specialist insolvency employment law (Frankfurt); independent insolvency branch, esp. for legal challenges and litigation (Jaffé LLP) with three partners/eight associates. (20 lawyers in administration)
Insolvency administration: ?? Deutsche Touring Reiseverkehr (Frankfurt); Schuhhaus Raab (Munich); Sanatorium Fronius hospital (Schweinfurt); Jim’s Menshop (Cologne); ongoing work for Caro Mode (Münster).
