GLEISS LUTZ

Comment: This firm recommended for IPOs and secondary offerings was able to win one of the few IPO instructions at the beginning of 2017 with its advice to Alzchem. Although this listing also did not end up taking place, the practice landed the subsequent ongoing advice and, in the process, the instruction for the integration of the company into the already publicly listed Softmatic, as well. For the original IPO advice, the team worked together with the US firm Greenberg Traurig, as in the previous year on the Pfleiderer-re IPO. Thanks to this now well-established relationship, GL can also cover the US side of transactions. The practice’s participation in the €460m Kion secondary offering represented a foray into a new dimension, where it acted alongside Hengeler Mueller as a co-counsel.
Strengths: Strong corporate tradition, as well as deals related to renewable ?energies.
Recommended: Dr. Stephan Aubel (“very pleasant and competent”, competitor).
Practice: Focus on advice to issuers on IPOs and secondary offerings, but also experienced in advice to banks. (2 partners, 6 associates)
Clients: ?? Alzchem on planned IPO (aborted); Softmatic on integration of Alzchem into the already publicly listed Softmatic; MPC Münchmeyer Petersen Capital, Kion, Curasan respectively on secondary offerngs; SLM on merger agreement with GE Aviation and public takeover bid; Team Curis Group/BioChain on secondary offering of Epigenomics.
