ASHURST

Comment: For years, this firm recommended in corporate has had one of the most respected corporation lawyers in Frankfurt, Eyring, but the size of the practice has tended not to allow him or other partners to focus on stock corporation/takeover law. The growth of the team, and the arrival of Sacher in particular, has changed that. In addition, the flow of work from the Asian offices has led to an increase in joint venture work, culiminating in the complex Grammer instruction, which brought together a number of Far East offices. The focus of von Oppen on building up a China desk in Frankfurt is also a sensible addition.
Strengths: Stock corporation law, strong office in the Far East.
Development potential: In comparison with most Ashurst competitors, the compliance practice is underdeveloped, even though this year there were the first signs of it growing.
Recommended: Reinhard Eyring, Dr. Thomas Sacher, Dr. Gerrit Clasen, Matthias von Oppen.
Practice: Focus on stock corporations, together with Mittelstand client base (esp. in South Germany). (Corporate in total: 5 partners, 4 counsel, 5 associates)
Clients: ?? Grammer on strategic partnership with Ningbo Jifeng Auto Parts; Adidas on integration of a newly acquired subsidiary; listed company on compliance investigation concerning particular obligations of executive board; ongoing advice (incl. AGM) to Alno, Avic.
