NOERR

Comment: Noerr comes highly recommended in real estate. The firm used to be mainly associated with high-volume residential portfolio deals, but has now gained a footing in the mid-cap segment, largely thanks to Pospich. As a result, the firm landed some very active clients, e.g. Art-Invest. Noerr is now looking to make inroads in Munich, which is an ambitious task as local competitors include large firms like GSK and Clifford as well as midsized outfits with long-standing connections to the key players. Visibility in real estate finance is increasing: Naujoks’ team, which advises both banks and borrowers, handled a whole series of high-end finance work, e.g. for shopping centers. In the current market, Noerr is benefiting from its integrated approach to advice, which it has pursued longer than most competitors and encompasses finance, traditional real estate, corporate and tax. This was shown by a number of project developments, esp. in eastern Europe, and advice on several complex JV structures, e.g. for Allianz Real Estate.
Strengths: All-round advice on transactions through close cooperation with tax, finance and corporate.
Recommended: Prof. Dr. Alexander Goepfert (“his work on the opposing side was superb”, client), Volker Bock, Christoph Brenzinger, Andreas Naujoks (“pragmatic, constructive”, competitor), Annette Pospich (“very tough”, “has what it takes to be a leading real estate lawyer”, client; “pragmatic, pleasant to work with”, competitor).
Practice: Focus on transactions and sale-and-lease-backs; funds advice, commercial rent law. Many years of experience in project development and plant construction, complemented by ?tax and ?bank lending and acquisition finance. (Core team real estate incl. finance: 11 equity partners, 10 salary partners, 2 counsel, 18 associates)
Clients: ?? Art-Invest on acquisition of 2 office properties; Vicus Group on acquisition of several office properties; Allianz Real Estate on JV and investment in new student housing fund; BayWa on sale of company headquarters; Gold Tree on acquisition of Esprit headquarters.
